Three character states are explored in my branching score for middle earth: shadow of mordor: explore, battle and chase. This branching score format uses the horizontal resequencing method to characterise three different moods. The branching cuts each cue into phrases which allows the engine to wait until the end of a musical phrase before sequencing into the new cue, which is more musical and less jarring to the player.
